Why Accidents happens:
I visited a construction site to offer them my safety services.
Everyone at the site claimed that they had the OSHA 10 safety training
including the Foreman that was flame-cutting a steel section.
I tried to talk to the Foreman, the answer was
"no time for you"
As you can see in the picture, and the Acetylene and Oxygen bottles are not secure and are on the floor.
The Foreman (Competent Person) is
flame cutting steel on top of these bottles.
So, what do you think?

OSHA's analysis of fall injuries for roofers and carpenters found that: falls from elevations by roofers cost an average of approximately $106,000 each; falls from elevations by carpenters cost an average of over $97,000 each. OSHA reminds employers to post injury/illness summaries beginning Feb. 1
Beginning Feb. 1, employers who are required to keep the OSHA Form 300 Injury and Illness log must post a summary of the log. Employers must post OSHA's Form 300A from Feb. 1 to April 30, 2012 in a common area wherever notices to workers are usually posted.

Effective November 8, 2010 all "Riggers" and "Signalpersons" must be qualified.  This is a mandatory requirement in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.1400 Regulations.  The need to be qualified applies to all employees engaged in hooking, unhooking, or guiding the load, as well as, crane assembly/disassembly.

Curriculum:

Pre-use inspection for rigging equipment.

  • Safe use of slings, rigging hardware, and lifting devices.
  • Calculating sling loads and use of capacity charts.
  • Signalperson responsibilities.
  • Crane safety.
